paul mccartney在一次很偶然的机会里发现了badfinger的一盘小样，

就这样这几个穷小子一步登天加盟甲壳虫的苹果唱片公司。

在mccartney影响下，乐队在风格上极其接近甲壳虫，当时一度被称为“穷人的甲壳虫”。

当第三张专辑《straight up》取得巨大成功时，苹果唱片公司已陷于管理混乱的泥沼。

不久后乐队加盟华纳公司，希望能凭借新专辑《wish you were here》摆脱困境，

但华纳公司怀疑乐队有造假帐的行为，从此乐队被华纳公司搁置起来。

一九七五年，乐队主唱兼吉他手pete ham因无法承受巨大压力自缢身亡，

乐队不得不宣布解散。

五年后，乐队重组，厄运却没能放过他们。

一九八三年，回天乏术的贝司手tom evans过世。
